MUD MACHINE Groove and Blues Trio

Emiliano Degl’Innocenti (guitar and vocals)
Born in Pistoia in 1977, he began playing Blues at the age of 15. Over the years, he has performed as a guitarist for American artists like Eddie Floyd, The Miracles, Ben E. King, and others during their Italian concerts. His most intense and enriching collaboration—both musically and personally—was with bluesman Guitar Crusher, which quickly turned into a lasting friendship. He has played and recorded with various local and European artists, including contributions to two of Lee Scratch Perry’s final official albums.

Rick Landi (keys and bass)
Born in 1993, he is an organist, pianist, and bassist with a passion for vintage instruments. On stage, he uses a collection of classic gear to expand and define the ensemble’s sonic palette.

Il Secco (drums)
Born in 1995, Alessio Burberi is a Tuscan multi-instrumentalist who loves Jazz, Soul, Black Music, Hip Hop, and Nu Soul. His musical curiosity spans genres and instruments—from standard percussion and strings to keyboards and more exotic folkloric pieces.

The Band’s Origins

In February 2020, Emiliano met the duo Janus (Rick and Il Secco) at a jam session and was immediately struck by their drive, warmth, and tight chemistry. Their rendition of One in Seven—even more intense and captivating than Soulive’s original—left him spellbound, leading him to propose a collaboration.

As a trio, they began exploring a wide-ranging repertoire, from raw Delta Blues to ’60s Soul and R&B classics (with occasional modern inspirations like The Wood Brothers), diving deep into the rhythms of African-American musical traditions.

The Album: Tough Times, Muddy Grooves

Set for release on June 21, this album marks their five-year journey with 8 original compositions and one translated cover. Rich in rhythmic diversity and subtle genre nods (not just Blues), it’s both timeless and fresh. Lyrically, the songs tackle social and personal themes—procrastination, confusion, empathy, rights, and societal decay—against a backdrop of gritty grooves and soulful melodies.

A celebration of resistance through music, Tough Times, Muddy Grooves proves that even in chaos, there’s rhythm worth finding.
